Description
The acoustic challenge
Hard surfaces—glass, marble, and slate—reflected sound, causing excessive echo and poor speech intelligibility. In such settings, guests raise their voices to communicate, creating a chain reaction of increasing noise that affects both the customer experience and staff well-being.
Eco-friendly and aesthetic solution
AICONNEX carried out a detailed acoustic study, considering the room’s dimensions, materials, and the placement of lighting, speakers, and air diffusers. The solution was based on high-performance acoustic panels on the ceiling and natural coconut fiber side coverings. These 100% recycled and sustainable materials reduced reverberation without affecting the restaurant’s design, achieving a perfect balance between aesthetics and acoustic comfort.
Concept
Concept:
Acoustically condition the restaurant’s main hall, housed within a semi-circular glass structure, eliminating reverberation through eco-friendly solutions while preserving the venue’s design.
Client:
Restaurante CHISME
Location:
Caldas de Montbui, Barcelona
Solution
The AICONNEX team conducted a detailed analysis of the CHISME restaurant’s main hall, measuring reverberation times, reflective materials, and architectural layout to design an accurate technical proposal.
Installation of sound-absorbing panels
The solution involved strategically placing circular sound-absorbing panels on the ceiling, seamlessly integrated with lighting and ventilation diffusers. Their layout was defined through custom CAD plans to ensure optimal acoustic performance for each area.
Natural and sustainable materials
To enhance mid- and high-frequency absorption, side panels made from natural coconut fiber were installed. This approach not only improved acoustic performance but also added environmental value by using biodegradable materials with a low carbon footprint.
Results and comfort
The result is a comfortable space where diners can converse effortlessly and enjoy a pleasant atmosphere free from echo. This acoustic conditioning combines functionality, sustainability, and aesthetic harmony with a flawless finish.
